I have been teaching piano lessons and early childhood music classes in Verona for  13+ years.  My business name is Music Well, LLC.  The Music Well community is Music Learning, Well Being and Community Belonging!  When the pandemic hit, I moved all of my piano lessons to Zoom (online) lessons.  It was not feasible for some of my students to continue, and I lost about 1/3 of my students.  The remaining students still flourished under our new format.  We had an online recital last year.During the past year, I have received two grants from the We're All In, Wisconsin Economic Development Company and one grant from Dane County Buy Local.  These grants enabled me the opportunity to keep my small business going and put safety features into my home studio.  

 

After January 1, 2021 we installed uv lights on our furnace system and an air purification system, all to improve air quality in the home studio.  I put very strong protective policies in place that followed CDC guidelines for in person learning.  About 1/2 of my students came for in person lessons and 1/2 remained online.

 

On May 1st, I have 22 students participating in three "Front Porch" Piano Recitals.  A week prior, I delivered flowers and a note to my closest neighbors telling them about the recitals and asking for their support.  Saturday morning I set up my electric Yamaha Clavinova on my front porch along with a new Behringer Amplification System and microphone.  Parents and families of the piano students were invited to bring their own chairs and sit on the front lawn.  Three recitals of 7-8 students each took place amidst the flowers purchased from Fitchburg Farms!  Students will receive individual carnations (from HyVee Fitchburg) and a music "collectors" button from cuteasabutton Etsy.  It was the windiest day EVER!  But the music went on and it was lovely!
